Into the Blue – Freestanding Glass Art

The humpback whale travels the oceans of the world, it's plaintive song synonymous with the deep. Surfacing to breathe it is a creature of light and air at the surface and the blues of the depths. Glass is the perfect medium to capture the world that this amazing leviathan inhabits. 
 
In this piece I have used glass carving techniques to depict the whale and it's movement through the water. Pale coloured glass bubbles and textures represent it's world at the surface dropping away to the blues of the deep ocean. The glass panel is mounted onto a semi-circular english oak base. This has been oiled to bring out the beauty of the natural ripples within the grain of the wood.
 
Glass panel size is approx: 170 x 305mm
Oak base size is approx: 202mm x 100mm
Overall height approx: 375mm
 
This glass panel comes in a gift box and the base is wrapped in acid free tissue paper. All packaged well for delivery.
