'Little Brother' Puffin– Freestanding Glass Art
A puffins' genus name is Fratercula, this comes from the latin and means 'Little Brother'. The name refers to the sea bird's black and white winter plumage, which was said to resemble the robes that the monks once wore. This characterful puffin is created on a transparent and white swirled backdrop. I used a range of glass techniques to achieve the bright colours and textures shown on his body and for the ground on which he is stood. He would be a special gift for anyone that loves not just puffins but wildlife and nature ... that's if I can give him up as he is a personal favourite. He stands in a lakeland slate base which gives him a very stable weighty footing.
This piece is freestanding and works well in a range of postions.
